Safer Recruitment Training

All educational establishments are under a duty to provide a safe environment for children and young people. Part of this responsibility includes deterring and rejecting unsuitable people from employment, ensuring that all staff and volunteers are aware of the signs of abuse and understand what action to take and maintaining an attitude of 'it could happen here' where safeguarding is concerned. To support this, since 2010, it has been mandatory in maintained schools and advisory in academies for recruitment panels to have at least one member who has completed appropriate Safer Recruitment Training.
